Sidetapa Bali Aga

Sidetapa is a Bali Aga village (Aga mean old, ancient, original).
In Desa Sidetapa you will walk around with a local guide, who speaks good English, and he will show you around the village. The walk starts with the temple, you can’t enter the temple but the guide will tell you about the function of the temple.
The guide will take you to the part where the old and original houses are, also here the technology has found its way in the shape of the dish antennas, but other than that life is based on tradition. You are welcomed by the people and they provide you with water or coffee if preferred, during a nice meeting with the friendly people of the village, they are proud of their village and happy to share information about it.

They will guide you through the narrow streets. Also here the bamboo is important, the people often do a lot of handicraft from bamboo. You will also visit the local school, and it amazing to see how young children already can speak English up to a certain level. They are delighted when people come to visit them.

And when school is out it is time to take pictures.

Not so long ago they founded the Sidetapa English Corner, this is a possibility for the young children to learn English after school, a language which is needed when you want to work in the tourism. The idea is for tourists to visit Sidetapa and sit with the children and teach them about English, it is a nice initiative and going really well. More information can be found on their website and Facebook page.
